At Clwydian Sports Therapy, we provide a range of Pilates classes, courses and workshops to suit most individuals from absolute beginners onwards.

We keep all of our groups fairly small as we believe it is important that we are able to provide a high level of support and guidance to all members of the group.

All our therapists and Pilates Instructors are trained to work with a variety of medical and health conditions so if you are not sure which class would be best suited to you, get in touch and we can have a chat about what would be best for you.

Pilates Beginners
Courses

Our beginners courses focus on the fundamentals of Pilates while developing flexibility, strength and coordination in class.

Our popular Pilates classes have a 4-week structure to ensure you get the best results from your sessions and still find time to fit it into your daily routine.  Each week, the class progresses to enable you to learn different elements of Pilates as well as techniques and exercises.

You will progress at your own pace while being supervised by an experienced instructor. You can expect to feel the benefits in your posture, core stability and strength after just a few classes.

Q: What happens once I have finished the beginners course?

A: After the beginners course, you are able to join our improver classes where you are able to work at your own level under the supervision of our instructor.  These are mixed ability classes where you will be offered different levels of the exercises.

Q: I am unable to commit to a 4-week course due to work or other commitments, but I would still like to learn about the fundamentals of Pilates.

A: We offer beginner Pilates workshops which are a one-off session (2-hours).  Within the workshop, we cover all the fundamentals of Pilates and base knowledge and skills to go on to join our improver classes.

Here's a reminder of some of the benefits of Pilates:

  1. Increases flexibility

  2. Improves posture

  3. Strengthens your core

  4. Reduces joint pain and muscle tension

  5. Relieves back pain

  6. Improves your balance

  7. Builds muscle definition

We offer two class formats so you can get the most out the classes.

  • Group Courses (up to 8 participants) - £40

  • Small Group Courses (up to 3 participants) - £50

Workshops and small group

Pilates Workshops

The workshops focus on the fundamentals of Pilates, providing the base knowledge and skills to join our improver Pilates classes.

All of our therapists and Pilates instructors are able to support you all throughout the workshop, ensuring correct technique and positioning.  Our instructors are also injury specialists and can help adapt exercises to suit your movement and ability (and make sure you aren't doing anything you shouldn't).

Q: How long are the Pilates workshops?

The Pilates workshops are 1.5-2 hours long, depending on the size of the group (see below).  This has been planned by our experienced team of instructors so that we have sufficient time to cover all elements, as well as allow time for questions along the way.  We want the sessions to be a two-way process, so encourage interaction through the session.

Q: What's the difference between the Pilates course and workshop?

A: Our Pilates courses progress each week, and enable us to revisit positions, techniques and exercises as we go through the course.  The workshops have less repetition of exercises and instead go through the fundamentals and key exercises in Pilates in a modular style throughout the two hours (with a short break mid-way through).

Here's a reminder of some of the benefits of Pilates:

  1. Increases flexibility

  2. Improves posture

  3. Strengthens your core

  4. Reduces joint pain and muscle tension

  5. Relieves back pain

We offer two workshop formats so you can get the most out of the session.

  • Group Workshops - 2 hours (up to 8 participants) - £20

  • Small Group Workshop - 1.5 hours (up to 3 participants) - £25

Improver Pilates Classes

â€‹We will focus on the fundamentals of Pilates while developing flexibility, strength and coordination in class.

Our popular Pilates classes enable you to progress at your own pace whilst being supervised by an experienced instructor.  The classes offer different levels of an exercise so that you can work to your ability.  As we are also injury specialists, we can guide and adapt exercises for you as needed.

Q: I've done Pilates before, can I join the improver classes?

A: So, this is something we look at on an individual basis, taking into consideration how long since you attended classes and whether you have any recent injuries or problems (pain, movement or other).

  • If it has been a while since you attended, we may suggest you either attend one of our Pilates workshops or a 1-2-1 session with an instructor to refresh your base knowledge and skills.

  • If you have an injury, we may advise you have an injury assessment to identify what is going on with the joint/muscle, and the cause.  As therapists, we want to treat the cause, and not just temporarily relieve symptoms.

Always happy to have a chat through your individual circumstances and help in any way we can!

Here's a reminder of some of the benefits of Pilates:

  1. Increases flexibility

  2. Improves posture

  3. Strengthens your core

  4. Reduces joint pain and muscle tension

  5. Relieves back pain

  6. Improves your balance

  7. Builds muscle definition

We offer several options for the improver Pilates classes:

  • Single Class  - £10

  • 5x Class Package - £40

  • 10x Class Package - £75

Q: What happens if I am unable to make an improver class or are going away on holiday?

A: Just let the instructor know when you are unable to make it and they are able to then take you off the specific classes.  Alternatively, if you have a package and wish to move one of your sessions to another class that week (or do two on a week) then we can easily swap you over to that class providing there is space.  We require 24 hours' notice of cancelling an individual class so that we are able to offer it to clients on our waiting list.

Pilates Class Testimonials

What do previous pilates class members say?

"Since embarking on the course of Pilates classes delivered by Becky, the movement I have gained following injury to my tendons has greatly improved.

Becky has taken the time to understand my problems, and has ensured that the exercises have been adapted to suit my requirements and limitations.

Over a period of 2 months, the improvement has been noticeable and I am so pleased with the results.  Thank you Becky!"

"I have been going to Bex for Pilates 1-2-1 sessions for a couple of years now and can say that I feel so much stronger and supple due to them.

This means that I am able to do more of the activities I enjoy."

All class participants will be supplied with their own equipment to bring to each class.

We also advise you to bring a small drink to keep hydrated during the class.

How long are the improver classes?

The classes are an hour with a format of a warm up, main session and stretching.

I have an injury, can I still take part?

Yes, our Pilates instructor specialises in modified Pilates so we will be able to adapt most exercises to suit your ability.

If you would like to discuss it with your instructor, Bex, before the class then you can get hold of her on 01352 746 500.

Why are the classes run in courses?

We run the Pilates in courses so you are able to see progression each week, and the instructor can get to understand your ability and work you at the appropriate level, or make sure you are not doing a movement you shouldn't be.

How do I pay for the course?

Payments are taken through our online booking or we can take cash or card payments when booking in clinic.
