Get to Know your Therapist: Part 1 (Bex)

Get to know more about Bex.

PROFESSIONAL:

Profession: Sports Therapist & Pilates Instructor

How long have you been qualified? 10 years Sports Therapy, 9 years Pilates.

What do you most enjoy about your job? Getting to know my patients! Every day is different!

Have you always been a therapist? I have been a sailing instructor and coach for the past 15 years, both in the UK and abroad. I am very fortunate that it has been a passion and hobby that I have been able to do alongside my studies and “proper” job as a Sports Therapist and Pilates Instructor.

What did you want to be when you were a child? I wanted to be an architect, but it was not to be. I still enjoy being creative at home and in the kitchen though when time allows.

PERSONAL / SILLY:

An unusual fact about you: I once won a car pulling contest (ladies division) – if I remember correctly, it was a land rover discovery. Those who know me, know I am only 5ft so would not expect this. I think the guy running the competition looked at me and thought I needed a little help getting the car moving, but a win is a win in my books. And the bottle of wine was much appreciated!

Favorite book: Currently on book number 2 of the Severn Sisters series which I am REALLY enjoying. I don’t often get through a book as I am a slow reader and often loose interest, but enjoy things such as Time Keepers Wife, or My Sisters Keeper.

If you could be any animal, what would you be? This is a tough one! Perhaps a dolphin, as they are sociable and friendly, and I enjoy swimming.

What would you sing at Karaoke? My worst nightmare! You would usually find me hiding as far away as possible!!

Who do you live with? My husband Pete, our son Jack who is 3 years old and soon our latest addition who is due in January (another baby boy).

Favorite holiday destination? Italy

Favorite food? Lasagne or home made pizza (Italian is also my favorite food!)

Favorite place? A quite cottage in the hills (Snowdonia or Lake District). Or of course, being by the water (or on the water being a sailor)!

Favorite season? Spring - days are getting longer and I love dewy mornings.

One thing you would like to achieve in the next year? Get back sailing myself - being on the water as a coach meant very little sailing time for myself. I also took up golf this year so would like to get an official handicap!
