What are Bespoke Orthotics?

Orthotics (a.k.a. insoles) are an insert that we can put inside our shoes and/or footwear.

They are used to enable normal movement of the foot, as well as other areas of the body such as the lower back, hips, knees and ankles. If one area of the body is not moving or functioning efficiently, then increased pressure and stress is put through other areas of the body. This often results in pain or discomfort over time.

Realigning the body's movement and enabling correct motion, we reduce excess load and stress of joints, ligaments and muscles.

Bespoke or custom orthotics are made especially for your feet and movement (i.e. your biomechanics) so they are individual to you alone.

As bespoke orthotics are prescribed specifically for an individuals needs, we can vary the prescription between each foot. No-one is symmetrical, but through a thorough assessment, we are able to determine if an imbalance is causing your pain or discomfort, in which we would make the necessary adjustments to your orthotic prescription.

A common foot problem which can also affect other areas of the body is flat feet (over pronation), where the arch of the foot is flatter. Sometimes this is genetic, other times can occur due to injury, wearing of incorrect footwear, or as we get older.
